BetterUnite automates the classic per-mile pledge from the first promise to the final charge. Sponsors pledge per mile, lap, book, or any custom unit for one or more participants, with optional caps. You decide whether a card on file is required, optional, or disallowed. When the event is finalized, every pledge calculates from actual totals, lands in a cart merged per pledger, and collects by card, payment link, or bulk checkout.

Questions

How does per-mile pledge fundraising work in BetterUnite?

Sponsors pledge a dollar amount per unit of activity, $1.50 per mile, $5 per lap, for one or more participants. When the event is finalized, BetterUnite calculates each pledge from actual activity totals and moves it to collection automatically.

Can sponsors cap how much they'll pay?

Yes. Every per-unit pledge supports an optional maximum (“$0.50 per mile, but no more than $100”), so sponsors can back enthusiastic participants without unlimited exposure.

Do sponsors have to put a card on file?

That's your call, per campaign: require a card at pledge time, make it optional, or disallow it entirely. Cards on file enable one-pass automatic collection at event close.

When and how are pledges charged?

After you finalize activities, calculated pledges are awarded to checkout carts, and multiple pledges from the same sponsor merge into a single cart showing the per-unit math. Collect via card on file, self-serve payment links, emailed payment instructions, or direct/bulk checkout.

Can someone sponsor multiple participants at once?

Yes. A sponsor can back one or more participants in a single pledge checkout, and can add flat pledges or one-time donations in the same transaction.

How do we chase unpaid pledges?

The admin pledge dashboard shows status and card-on-file indicators with bulk filters. Email pledgers payment instructions or send a bulk message with a cart-checkout-link merge field so each sponsor lands on their own prefilled cart.
