What happens when a membership payment fails?
BetterUnite retries the card automatically, by default 1, 5, and 7 days after the failure, and emails the member each time. You can customize the retry offsets, disable retries, and decide whether exhausted retries mark the subscription failed or cancel it.
Do members get notified before they're charged?
Yes. Upcoming-payment emails go out 3 days ahead (you choose which recurring frequencies get them), and expiring-subscription emails with renewal prompts fire automatically. Every template has a view-sample preview.
How does BetterUnite handle expiring cards?
Members get proactive expiring-card emails and can update their card in the self-service portal, and staff get an expiring-cards report covering the next 90 days plus an expiring-subscriptions report for the next 60, a ready-made retention call list.
Can admins fix billing edge cases manually?
Yes. Modify invoice due dates, mark invoices paid (for checks or comps), reinstate cancelled subscriptions, and print invoices, all from the subscription detail page, which also shows past payment attempts and failure reasons.
Can a member stop auto-renewal without cancelling immediately?
Yes. Subscriptions support stop-renewal-at-end-of-cycle as well as immediate cancellation, with pending-cancellation and confirmation emails keeping the member informed either way.
