Youth are rising up in unprecedented numbers. Come kick it with us at Midtown Live and help us mobilize 5,000 first-time voters in 2020 to add some fuel to their fire.
Of 28 million Texas residents, 12 million are under 30 years old and 62% are youth of color, while 66% of Texas seniors are white. Texas has the fifth highest racial generation gap of any state in the country. Today, half of those under the age of 18 are Latino, 12% are African American and 4% are Asian or Pacific Islander. However, despite young people’s numbers and current activism, they are still the least likely to vote of any age group, adversely impacting their ability to move policy on the issues they care about.
Join us on October 9 at Midtown Live to celebrate the rising tide of youth power in Texas and in our nation. Hear from youth poets Destiny Williams and Taylor Smith, join us in a few rousing revolutionary songs led by Valeria Gonzalez, and raise a glass to the future while we raise money to help young people rise to the occaision. Because the future isn't just bright, it's #LITAF.
