Join us for a one-time event focused on highlighting the radically real experiences of BIPOC from the BB community and their stories as non-white people in a white world.
This event will be a panel-style dialogue in which only the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) panelists will be invited to share, and all other other participants and audience members will be muted upon entry and asked solely to listen. Everyone on the BIPOC Panel has participated in the Liberated Cohort through Building Bridges that focused on liberation and healing within the BIPOC experience. They are all practiced in the Building Bridges style of conflict transformation and authentic dialogue and will practice sharing as openly as we do within our BIPOC affinity spaces. The panel will be guided into a dialogue exploring their personal stories and the ways in which white supremacy culture shows up in all aspects of their lives.
Please treat this as a lecture-style conversation focused on listening and learning rather than interacting with the speakers. The last 30 minutes of the dialogue will include some time of Q and A where all audience members will have the opportunity to chat questions that arise for them after hearing the experiences presented. Questions will be filtered by BIPOC facilitators in order to ensure the least amount of harm for panelists.
Tickets are $30/person and all proceeds of this event will go towards the Liberated Leaders Fund in order to continue investing in the BIPOC leaders of our community (see blurb below). The session WILL be recorded via zoom and all people who purchase a ticket will have access to the video recording after the session.
Financial assistance is available to any BIPOC who would like to attend. Please email Jenny at jenny@buildingbridgeshift.org for more info.
What is the Liberated Leaders Fund (LLF)?
We created the Liberated Leaders Fund as a mutual aid resource, making direct cash grants to leaders of color in our network to be used to address financial barriers. We seeded this fund with $5000 of BB's general operating funds - to demonstrate our organizational commitment to reparations. Our community responded to the call last summer by giving an additional $7000 to get the fund rolling!
