Africa Yoga Project Educates, Empowers, Elevates and Expands Employability with youth in Africa using the transformational practice of yoga. Our vision is to create opportunities for youth to step into their greatness and become self-sustaining leaders in their communities.
Yoga is part of an enormous – and growing –world wellbeing market.
In the US, over 36 million people practice yoga and spend more than $16 million on yoga classes, apparel, and products.
Globally, the wellness industry represents a $3.7 trillion market.
More than 70% of Kenyans are under age 30, and they face a national unemployment rate of 40%.
AYP is helping young people in Kenya and in 18 other African countries to increase their employability and tap into the economic opportunities of the wellness industry.
Employability – More than 200 young people, trained as teachers, are earning a living wage
Civic Engagement – More than 300 free community outreach classes are bringing yoga to some 6,000 people in 80 locations (schools, orphanages, prisons, special needs centers, community rooms, and Maasai villages)
Wellness Value Chain – every week, over 300 people from all walks of life gather at our Shine Center to practice yoga as a community
And all over the world, people like you are getting involved,
ready to lead the change in their own communities.
