Join us virtually to celebrate the successes over the past year and look forward to the important work we still have ahead of us.

Relax comfortably in your home or outside in the fresh air while we gather virtually to celebrate our beloved Satilla River and look forward to another strong year of advocacy and protection.
We hope that going virtual will allow many more of you to join in on the celebration from wherever you may be!

What exactly is a virtual event?

We'll go live at 7pm, and you can tune in straight from your computer. During the live stream, we will celebrate some of the successes over the past year and look forward to the important work we still have ahead of us. We'll honor the Satilla Riverkeeper Conservationist of the Year, enjoy musical entertainment, and hear from our generous event sponsors.

You will also have the opportunity to peruse and bid on several items in our online auction! Keep an eye out for a sneak peek at auction items. (To donate an item to the auction, contact us!)

Registration for the Virtual Satilla Celebration is free - go ahead and register now, and you will receive email reminders leading up to the event. You will be emailed a personalized link to join the live event on August 8th.

**With concerns around COVID-19 and large in-person gatherings, we had to cancel the Annual Satilla Riverkeeper Gala, but we can still come together to help move the mission of Satilla Riverkeeper forward--to protect and restore our beautiful river as well as educate our community and leaders about our unique watershed. We invite you to join us in reimagining this popular celebration.

Your generous support during this Virtual Satilla Celebration will help our organization to continue to be a strong advocate for the river, maintain water quality monitoring, organize river cleanups, and keep an eye out for any potential threats to the Satilla River, her tributaries, and terrestrial watershed.**

$100 Internship

Education is a vital part of our mission. In order to effectively protect our Satilla, we must have an informed and educated community, a community that understands the ecology and environmental issues in the Satilla River watershed.

In addition to educating the public, it is also important that young people in our community get opportunities to gain valuable experiences, skills, and knowledge that will propel their careers.

We need $4,000 to offer a paid internship.

The environmental field has suffered from a lack of diversity for a long time. We believe that offering paid internships is a way to help train the next generation of environmental leaders and young professionals that understand society's many impacts on the environment, no matter their career path.

As a small nonprofit, our mission benefits tremendously from the creative, knowledgable, energetic, and passionate students that intern with our organization.

$50 Keep the Riverkeeper Boat Afloat!

As anyone who has owned a boat knows, the maintanence needs seem to be endless! Our Satilla Riverkeeper boat has been a trusty vessel to allow us to patrol the Satilla and the estuary. It is especially helpful when we need to check out issues in places where public access via land is not available.

We are grateful for volunteer labor for tune-ups and minor mechanics!

It costs about $300 a year to keep our boat and trailer in good shape.

A donation of $50 would cover a trailer light replacement kit, gas for 2 patrol trips, OR annual registration fees for the boat and trailer.

Any amount you are able to contribute helps us continue to be mobile and vigilant in the watershed!

$25 River Clean-up Supplies

Like everything this year, we are planning to do this year's River-Wide Cleanup in a modified, socially-distant style!

We are excited because collectively, we will have an even bigger impact on the watershed when we spread out. However, this means we will need more supplies for each small clean-up team.

$25 covers the cost of one clean-up kit: including a bucket, trash bags, gloves, hand sanitizer, and masks.

OR

$25 covers the cost of trash grabber that we can lend to clean-up volunteers.

We aim to distribute at least 50 clean-up kits to participating volunteers around the watershed.

Stay tuned to our social media and website for all the details on the clean-up!

$10 Bacteria Water Quality Monitoring

During the summer months (May to October) we sample popular public landings on the Satilla River twice a month.

$100 covers the cost of traveling the route to all sites for one round of samples.

$10 covers the cost of supplies for sampling or E. coli at a single site.

We are grateful for the support of the M.K. Pentecost Ecology Fund for our water quality monitoring program. An additional $2500 will fully fund our water quality monitoring efforts for the rest of the year.

Anything you can contribute helps us continue to monitor for bacteria levels along the Satilla River Water Trail, ensuring that the public knows if bacteria levels exceed safe swimming standards alerting us to possible pollution issues.
