GIVING
Internship
Education is a vital part of our mission. In order to effectively protect our Satilla, we must have an informed and educated community, a community that understands the ecology and environmental issues in the Satilla River watershed.   In addition to educating the public, it is also important that young people in our community get opportunities to gain valuable experiences, skills, and knowledge that will propel their careers.   We need $4,000 to offer a paid internship.    The environmental field has suffered from a lack of diversity for a long time. We believe that offering paid internships is a way to help train the next generation of environmental leaders and young professionals that understand society's many impacts on the environment, no matter their career path.   As a small nonprofit, our mission benefits tremendously from the creative, knowledgable, energetic, and passionate students that intern with our organization.

Keep the Riverkeeper Boat Afloat!
As anyone who has owned a boat knows, the maintanence needs seem to be endless! Our Satilla Riverkeeper boat has been a trusty vessel to allow us to patrol the Satilla and the estuary. It is especially helpful when we need to check out issues in places where public access via land is not available.    We are grateful for volunteer labor for tune-ups and minor mechanics!    It costs about $300 a year to keep our boat and trailer in good shape.   A donation of $50 would cover a trailer light replacement kit, gas for 2 patrol trips, OR annual registration fees for the boat and trailer.    Any amount you are able to contribute helps us continue to be mobile and vigilant in the watershed!

River Clean-up Supplies
Like everything this year, we are planning to do this year's River-Wide Cleanup in a modified, socially-distant style!   We are excited because collectively, we will have an even bigger impact on the watershed when we spread out. However, this means we will need more supplies for each small clean-up team.   $25 covers the cost of one clean-up kit: including a bucket, trash bags, gloves, hand sanitizer, and masks.   OR    $25 covers the cost of trash grabber that we can lend to clean-up volunteers.   We aim to distribute at least 50 clean-up kits to participating volunteers around the watershed.    Stay tuned to our social media and website for all the details on the clean-up!

Bacteria Water Quality Monitoring
During the summer months (May to October) we sample popular public landings on the Satilla River twice a month.    $100 covers the cost of traveling the route to all sites for one round of samples.   $10 covers the cost of supplies for sampling or E. coli at a single site.    We are grateful for the support of the M.K. Pentecost Ecology Fund for our water quality monitoring program. An additional $2500 will fully fund our water quality monitoring efforts for the rest of the year.   Anything you can contribute helps us continue to monitor for bacteria levels along the Satilla River Water Trail, ensuring that the public knows if bacteria levels exceed safe swimming standards alerting us to possible pollution issues.
