As you all know, Ashley loves the kids! My passion for serving others has been a driving force in my life since the time I could pick up a "canned good" to make "food baskets" at the food bank my grandmother helped run. And, so growing up I always knew that I would pursue a career in public service. Even though I imagined my service would be to my home state of Texas, life has it so that I get to directly serve students in our Nation's Capital, Washington, D.C. 

Fortunately, my location has not prevented me from still serving Texas youth. Recently, I was honored with the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors for Youth Rise Texas, an organization dedicated to nurturing the growth of young minds affected by parental removal due to incarceration, detention, or deportation. Having experienced the impact of my own father's deportation during my childhood, this cause holds a special place in my heart.

The Youth Rise Texas initiative focuses on empowering these resilient young individuals in community organizing, healing, and leadership. These are the future civil rights leaders who are committed to fighting against systems of oppression. I am inspired and encouraged by their commitment at such a young age.

Will you help us fundraise for our Youth Steering Committee? This campaign’s goal will be to fundraise $20,000 to fund stipends for youth decision-makers. $20,000 = 1,000 hours of paid work for a youth worker! 100% of the money raised will help cover youth stipends and salaries. I have a personal goal of raising $500.00 by giving Tuesday, November 28th, 2023. And, I'm hoping I can count on you to support!
