Great opportunity to support UHS and honor Lori Holleran Steiker

This scholarship celebrates and advances the contributions of Professor Lori Holleran Steiker who led the effort to create and open University High School in 2014.

She has served as a Member of its Board of Directors since its inception and has mentored numerous UHS students, UT students serving as interns at the high school, as well as the school’s personnel.  Her commitment to youth in recovery and related supports and programs, together with her scholarly engagement at the University of Texas, inspired her effort to bring a recovery school to the University, establishing UHS as the first recovery high school formally associated with a university.

In her roles as the Steve Hicks Professor of Addictions and Recovery at the University of Texas Steve Hicks School of Social Work and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, she has brought extraordinary interdisciplinary resources to bear on the school’s mission.  Most of all, this scholarship honors Professor Holleran Steiker’s love and support for the school and her passion, as a person in long-term recovery, for helping others in their recovery efforts.

We currently have two different donors that have agreed to match donations up to $30,000, so your donations will achieve more in advancing the mission of University High School.
