Since 2001, the Sundt Foundation has presented a suite of sporting competitions across the Southwest to raise money in honor of Mike Gaines. Mike was a member of the Sundt family for two decades before losing his life to ALS at age 49, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. He first worked as a concrete finisher in Saudi Arabia for two years. He returned to Arizona to work as a project superintendent, project manager and finished his career as a project director. Mike and the Sundt Foundation worked together to create this special philanthropy. To date, the Mike Gaines Charitable Fundraising Events initiative has raised over $2 million. All profits are donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to help eradicate the disease.
