Promoting Catholic social teaching in our local community

The Summer Service Learning Program (SSLP) offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves for eight weeks at a non-profit organization. Sponsored by Notre Dame Alumni clubs across the country, SSLP students serve at a wide range of placements related to healthcare, homelessness, immigration, education, and more. Students immerse themselves in the lives of those on the margins, develop vocational identity, and learn the meaning of community.

The ND Club of Austin has sponsored an SSLP placement for several years. Students placed in the Austin SSLP have worked with organinzations such as Foundation Communities, a local nonprofit that provides affordable, attractive homes and free on-site support services for thousands of families with kids, as well as veterans, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. You can learn more about the types of projects SSLP students worked on by watching the below video created by one of our SSLP students.

Sponsoring an SSLP placement requires the ND Club of Austin to contribute anywhere from $1,300-$3,000 per student. Please donate to our SSLP scholarship fund to ensure that we are able to continue to promote Catholic social teaching in our local community through this annual SSLP placement!

Donations to the SSLP scholarship do count towards your Notre Dame football ticket lottery eligibility! And as always, any donation made to the ND Club of Austin is tax-deductible.
