About Friends of Grand Meadow

Support growing healthy food and communities by sending a contribution to Friends of Grand Meadow Park! We are a park adopter group for Grand Meadow Park in Southeast Austin where we are building our organization that aims to connect our neighbors to the ecosystem and to each other! Fruitful Commons is our 501c3 nonprofit fiscal sponsor providing much guidance for this process. We also are partnering with Austin Parks Foundation and PARD in creating a vision plan for the whole park with our community! Designs we have already begun working on are a community garden and a food forest where our community can grow free food and learn about native plants and wildlife!

Since creating our organization in 2021, we have:

  • Coordinated park clean up days
  • Built a butterfly garden
  • Created a website
  • Planted more wildflowers in the meadow
  • Built a nature play area
  • Hosted monthly community meetings
  • Designed the community garden
  • Given away many free seeds!

With your support in 2023 we can begin:

  • Hosting gardening and other workshops with paid speakers
  • Providing food at meetings
  • Sustain our website domain
  • Buy tools needed to better steward the park
  • Reach more neighbors through our outreach efforts via flyers and door knocking

We appreciate donations of any amount! Here's what your gift can help with:

  • $5 buys seed packets or trowels
  • $12 pays for a month of website hosting
  • $25 pays for snacks for a community meeting
  • $50-75 buys a wheelbarrow
  • $100 prints flyers and posters for an event
  • $500 supports a community event with food, face painting, and kids' activities!

Thank you for your support! Every dollar given to Friends of Grand Meadow Park goes to supporting our local ecosystem and building community around nature!
