As you may know, homelessness is rising in our community. The CHUM shelter is at or near capacity every night. We have instituted rigorous sanitation and personal hygiene protocols, installed hand-washing stations, and require physical distancing and masks to keep all our clients and staff safe and healthy.

In a common goal to educate our community, you are about to embark on a journey where everything you do for this fundraiser matters. The time you spend, the stories you share, and the money you raise all make a difference. What’s more, 100% of the funds raised are reinvested directly back into CHUM and support for the homeless and low-income families in the community!

St Paul's has a long tradition of caring for our neighbors; providing meals for folks staying in one of CHUM's facilities, at Loaves and Fishes, or those taking meals at Damiano Center; contributing gear and food as the season dictates; raising funds by things like baking scones or direct contributions, or bidding on auction baskets; gathering to learn about issues affecting people most marginalized in our community; standing as advocates for issues that support a more just and compassionate Duluth.  From what I've learned, this is a core identity of St Paul's, dating back at least as far as 1881 when this congregation established St Luke's Hospital in response to a typhoid epidemic and continuing right up through offering refugees shelter and support in the House Next Door.  This is who we are, and in spite of all that is happening in the world around us and within our walls now, it is who we continue to be.  Please continue to heal the world with love, and give what you can.

Blessings,

Deacon Pat
