Presented by North Shore Bank, the CHUM 2021 Outreach Fundraiser will raise funds this year for CHUM's Street Outreach team, led by Deb Holman. Every week she and her team seek out these most vulnerable of our neighbors to provide basic necessities for survival – food, water, tents, sleeping bags, and warm clothing. The outreach team also connects people in need to our Warming Center and other local resources in order to help stabilize their lives and find permanent housing. We walk beside these, our neighbors, on their journey. Your support makes it possible.
On any given night in Duluth there are at least 200 people living unsheltered; in the woods, under bridges, or in makeshift encampments.
Imagine the deep anxiety they feel every day, wondering:
- What or how will I eat today?
- Where will I sleep tonight?
- How will I stay warm and dry?
- Who might I come in contact with that might expose me to Covid?
- Who can I turn to?
One of the places they can go is to the Warming Center. The warming center is a safe and welcoming nighttime warming space where people experiencing homelessness and other people in need can stay warm on nights when the temperature is expected to drop to 32 degrees or lower. The Warming Center is a partnership between CHUM, St Louis County, the City of Duluth, Duluth HRA, and Loaves & Fishes.

- $50 helps three people recover their IDs, which is the first step to obtaining housing and employment
- $100 provides one week of gas for the Street Outreach Team
- $265 provides one month of internet access for all the families at the Steve O’Neil Apartments; especially needed during distance learning!
- $900 covers operating costs of one night for the CHUM Overnight Shelter
