Hello Friends! How are you holding up? These are certainly unpredictable times, right? Perhaps you’re suffering from “cabin fever syndrome”. I know I sure am. Some of us are tired of spending so much time at home. We may long for get togethers with family and friends yet have concern for contracting or even spreading COVID. We miss our favorite restaurants but as fall and winter approach, we know the window for outdoor dining is closing as weather gets colder. But think about this, what if your biggest concern was where will you sleep? When will you get your next meal? Is there some place to take a shower? These are some of the really difficult challenges for the more than 200 people in Duluth who are experiencing homelessness. CHUM has dedicated staff who spend long days in outreach on the streets, under the bridges and in the woods of Duluth. They provide assistance in the winter to get the unsheltered into the warming houses or provide tents, blankets and other basic resources for survival during our harsh winters. These services are not inexpensive and CHUM is in need of a “refill” of funds to continue to support this vulnerable population. Can you help? Consider donating the amount you may have spent on a meal out, or perhaps the price of a ticket to a concert you would have attended if not for COVID. Any amount helps. Thanks for considering in advance!
