Jack Allen’s along with Saffron Trust Women’s Foundation have partnered on an initiative to build more awarness and love in communities by providing meal workshops

 

Event Objectives:

This event is to raise awareness about the impact of unhealthy eating habits where it’s blamed for high rates of hypertension and diabetes within marginalized communities of Williamson & Travis Counties. Also foods are linked to maternal mortality rates in Texas have doubled within the past decade, ranking Texas the worst in the nation--and on par with economically underdeveloped countries, nutrition is a critical factor within health data recorded numbers.

 

  • Exposure to dining/restaurant establishments that welcome their establishment  to the under privilege
  • How diets can be made healthier - without neglecting their culture – by trying different cuisine(s).
  • Identify foods associated with “soul food” that are prepared in healthier way that can decrease high rates of obesity and cardiovascular diseases.
  • Accessibility to fresh produce and nutritious food in “food desert” – which are areas that do not have access to fresh and nutritious food source, such as a supermarket, within one mile. 
  • Jack Allen’s Kitchen will play a crucial role in being the trendsetter, influencing change for restaurants in Austin. 
  • Show how Saffron Trust Women’s Foundation and Jack Allen’s Kitchen community missions align very well.

What we would like to accomplish:

  • Partner with Jack Allen’s Kitchen, which will play a crucial role in being the trendsetter, influencing positive change for restaurants in Austin. 
  • Actively encourage other restaurants to take more of a critical role when it comes to the importance on emphasizing the importance of nutritional diets, making a difference in many of the major health concerns facing Austin’s underserved community.
  • Provide an opportunity for underserved women to feel “special” while receiving education on food and other Health Concerns.
  • Help build community awareness and develop strong social support systems.
  • Have media coverage to show how Jack Allen’s Kitchen will play a crucial role in being the trendsetter, influencing change for restaurants in Austin. 
  • Have media coverage to show how Saffron Trust Women’s Foundation and Jack Allen’s Kitchen community missions align very well.
