Join us for our annual EMG Climbathon Sunday, April 16th from 4-10pm! This year, we're going (extra) mini with a 6-hour Climbathon, less time, but still so much going on!

Our programs could not happen without the support of our community. Your participation in our Climbathon will help us continue to grow and expand. This 6-hour event will include raffles, food, breakout games and contests, and extra surprises not yet seen at one of our events.

Details/Rules:

The participant who climbs the most vertical feet (one over 16 years and one under 16 years) category will win a prize at the end of the Climbathon. In order to do so, climbers must adhere to the following criteria:

Rules:

  • 1 roped route = 45 feet, 1 boulder problem= 10 feet

  • Climbers must record each route they climb during the 6-hour period

  • All “Send Sheets” must be turned into the EMG table by 10:15 pm Sunday, April 16th for your distance climbed to count.

  • You can only climb 1 specific route TWICE per hour for it to count

  • Downclimbing does not count

  • All proceeds raised will go towards funding our local outdoor programs in order to expand our reach to more deserving members of our Salt Lake and Summit County Communities.

  • You are not required to climb the whole time, or at all if you'd like to just hang out and show your support.

  • One "spirit" award will be given to the participant we deem to have brought the stoke and positive attitude (regardless of how well they do in the competition).

  • The hourly raffles will be for those participants still in the building.

  • Sponsored Routes: Once per hour, if you SEND (no falls) the designated routes, you will receive one raffle ticket for the route prizes (given at the end of the event). You must have an EMG volunteer or staff member present to watch the climb and give you the ticket.

  • Hourly Raffle: After every hour, tickets get dumped and new tickets from continuing participants get put in the bucket

Our Story:

Before Nikki McGee founded and became Executive Director of Elevated Mountain Guides, she faced many of the struggles that the participants we work with encounter on a daily basis. Coming from an underserved community with few resources and alternatives, Nikki found climbing and the outdoor community. Since discovering the tremendous benefits climbing has on physical and mental health, she has been dedicated to making the outdoors, and the tools it has to offer, accessible to all.

Since 2017 Project Climb has been creating opportunities for our local underserved communities to get outdoors by creating accessible outdoor education and supportive climbing programs. Our program's success directly connects with our 4 pillar mission: 1) Experiential Outdoor Education, 2) Environmental Stewardship, 3) Community Engagement & 4) Establishing Healthy Habits.

  • Project Climb takes underserved youth (ages 4-17) and adults in recovery in Salt Lake and Summit Counties to climb indoors and outdoors. Thus far, we have worked with over 200 youth and seen improvements in classroom engagement, self-efficacy, stress management, self-esteem, and making healthy choices.
  • Starting the Spring of 2023, we are proud to introduce Fly Fishing into our programming options!
