Raising $3141 for Youth Rise Texas instead of spending our stimulus checks on delicious fancy drinks and Lyft rides home!
Well - this isn't exactly what we had originally planned to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of our amazing decade-nt birthday celebration last year, but.....THIS WILL BE EVEN BETTER!! It'll be FROM YOUR COUCH! Via ZOOOOOOOMMMM! (link released day of, once you get a ticket) For our 31st and 41st birthdays, we want to celebrate with you quarantine-style with a lineup of exciting, and maybe mildly embarrassing events for the evening - but will bring joy to all who attend: Mortified: Go find your middle school journal, your high school yearbook, or dust off that first cellphone video you ever took, and get ready to share them.. Talent Show: If Mortified doesn't suit your fancy - show off your best Zoomable talent - piano? headstands? bartending skills? Trivia: Last option - try out your skills at City Council, Policy Wonky, Corona Virus trivia as we end the night. Bring us your BEST so we can all enjoy a little levity in this heavy time. We highly encourage putting on your going out clothes, and fancy mixed cocktails in the spirit of our supposedtobe party at Dumonts Down Low. AND on a serious note - while we both are excited to be able to celebrate in fun, because we are healthy and have secure jobs - we're also both pretty passionate about helping our community right now too. Since we're not out at Dumont's spending our stimulus checks on delicious fancy drinks and Lyft rides home for the night, we'd like to ask you all to consider donating that money to an organization important to both of us: Youth Rise Texas is a local organization that works with youth who have been affected by incarceration or deportation. They have recently created an emergency grant program for their program participants for help during this crisis. Within the first 3 days of opening applications they already had more applicants than funding available. We'd like to ask you to help us help Youth Rise get funds to these teens and their families. Please consider giving what you can by picking a donation level from the right!
