NEUROPSYCHOLOGY 101

COURSE DESCRIPTION: A basic look at brain function and the biological model of addictive behaviors.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Thea is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), and Nationally certified through the National Association of Addiction Professionals as a Master Addictions Counselor (MAC) and National Certified Adolescent Addictions Counselor (NCAAC) with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field.  She holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a M.A. in Forensic Psychology from the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology. Thea has additionally completed all coursework and is currently working toward achieving a Ph.D. in Integral & Transpersonal Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, where her research focus is centered on the impact of moral injury as related to behavior and substance use. 
Thea has been actively involved with providing mental health and substance abuse treatment services for individuals in the correctional system, training and supervising peers and future counselors, collaborating with professionals and organizations throughout Colorado and nationally, as well as maintaining a private practice where she supports a diverse clientele. She is a past president of the Colorado Association of Addiction Professionals (CAAP) and is a current board member.  She is an adjunct professor at the University of Denver and Metro State University and previously taught at Colorado State University.
