Raffle Item #3 - Wine & Cheese Please!
California cult wines are sought after by collectors, investors and enthusiastic wine connoisseurs around the world. The emergence of the California cult movement in the 1990’s established the trend toward riper fruit and wines with bigger, more concentrated flavors. Build or enhance your wine cellar with these fine vintages!   2008 Kapcsandy Family Winery • Estate Cuvee State Lane Vineyard The 2008 Estate Cuvee State Lane Vineyard (68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) is spectacular. A dense ruby/purple hue is followed by a gorgeous bouquet of espresso roast, chocolate, blackberries and black fruits. Full-bodied with extraordinary elegance as well as tremendous texture, intensity and length, this singular wine should drink well for two decades.   2007 Kapcsandy Family Winery • The Maiden As outstanding as the 2008 is, it is eclipsed by the brilliant 2007 The Maiden, perhaps the finest second wine yet made here. Sweet tobacco leaf, fruitcake, creme de cassis, black currant and licorice aromas emerge from this round, opulent, voluptuously textured wine. It is very much in keeping with the 2007 vintage.   2012 Aubert • Pinot Noir UV Vineyard An exceptional perfume of rose petals, loamy soil, raspberries, blueberries and spring flowers jumps from the glass of the 2012 Pinot Noir UV. Primarily Calera clonal material with some Vosne-Romanee suitcase clones, it was fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged 12 months prior to being assembled in tank and then bottled without fining or filtration.    2012 Saxum • James Berry Vineyard Proprietary Red Incorporating more Mourvedre than normal, this wine is made from 43% Grenache, 29% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah and 10% Counoise that’s aged in a combination of concrete and barrel. With fabulous black raspberry, cassis, spring flowers and charred meat aromas and flavors, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, yet stays lively, incredibly pure and elegant, with lots of fine tannin emerging on the finish.    2014 Peter Michael Winery • Pinot Noir Le Moulin Rouge From the purchased fruit, the 2014 Pinot Noir Le Moulin Rouge Pisoni Vineyard displays a decent plum color, plenty of straightforward black cherry fruit, spice, forest floor and loamy soil undertones.    2015 Quilceda Creek • CVR Columbia Valley Red Wine A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and the balance equal parts Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the 2015 CVR Columbia Valley Red Wine offers up a generous bouquet of ripe red cherries, licorice and creamy new oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and velvety, with an open-knit core and a generous personality, concluding with a chewy, richly fruity finish.
