Triangle Special Hockey Association (TSHA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization operating as the area's only ice hockey program specifically for individuals with special needs who are able to skate.
TSHA's program is available to any Triangle-area family with a child who has special needs or any individual with a disability that prevents participation in a typical program. TSHA serves families in Central and Eastern North Carolina, including Wake, Durham, Orange, Greenville and Cumberland counties.
Our program, including ice time and equipment, is offered at very low cost or no cost to participants. Children as young as six can register to learn to skate . Through one-on-one mentoring, they gain skills and advance to playing actual games and even competing in tournaments. In 2007, TSHA began with seven players. Today, more than 60 players, coaches, and mentors participate in our program.
In the words of a TSHA parent and coach:
"Regardless of ability, they have the same experience that any other player has in hockey--just to be able to get together with people and just be yourself and enjoy the game. It's unbelievable."
All donations are tax-deductible (EIN: 26-0567966) and help our amazing athletes enjoy an exceptional team experience on the ice! Our mailing address is P.O. Box 80451, Raleigh, NC, 27623.
