THE 2022 AUSTIN 20 LUNCHEON

HELP US PROTECT AND CARE FOR TRAFFICKED CHILDREN........

Same fantastic luncheon, Same inspiring mission,

NEW LOCATION!

This year we are gathering at

The Headliners Club, 221 West 6th Street,

on May 18, at 11:30a.m.

The Austin 20 fights for children who have been sold commercially for sex.  Sometimes that perpetrator is a boyfriend or friend and sometimes it's sadly a loved one such as Mom or Dad. The trauma from sexual exploitation that these young children face is complex. Imagine being abused by the people who are supposed to love you? We partner with local organizations in Travis county to equip our service providers with the tools needed to fight Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking (DMST). We provide essential services for these child survivors and a much-needed safe harbor where they can heal.

THE CHILDREN OF AUSTIN NEED YOUR SUPPORT

In the spring of 2019, The Austin 20 launched the Nicole's Place Project to serve as a short-term harbor for child survivors of sex trafficking in the Austin area. In partnership with an agency with over 135 years of experience caring for children in need, we created a safe, peaceful, non-judgmental, trauma-informed environment for survivors who need to heal. Without a place to go, these children often cycle back into the hands of their traffickers or end up incarcerated. Adittionally, access to long-term care facilities for sex trafficking survivors is limited. We cannot allow these children to slip back into the hands of their abusers!

Nicole's Place is such an enormous success that we need more space! We have helped dozens of girls in a short period of time who continue to keep in touch with us and whom we continue to support. Due to this demand and success, in 2021, The Austin 20 purchased a second location, Nicole's House (in northern Travis county). We began an extensive remodel to make the space safe for traumatized youth. Through your generous donations, we have almost completed this facility's 10,000 square foot remodel. This fantastic facility will feature emergency care, counseling, educational programs and other long-term treatment for DMST children aged 11 to 17.

Nicole's House Featured Programs:

  • Drop-in Center: Our drop-in center is available to law enforcement, child welfare professionals and other stakeholders to drop off survivors for sexual assault examination, assessment and other emergency services.
  • Long-Term Treatment Center: Our long-term treatment center has 25 comfortable and safe bedroom suites available for children to stay in until they are well. In this program, survivors receive evidence-based, best-practice therapeutic services to overcome their trauma, allowing them to thrive and become successful, healthy individuals.

Each child has their own bedroom and bathroom, therapy, schooling and more! Some of these children have never had a safe place to call home.  Come to the luncheon to understand how revolutionary this new space will be for our central Texas sex-trafficked youth.

Both locations, Nicole's Place and Nicole's House, will provide essential services to Texas children. However, we need your help to complete Nicole's House. This center is an excellent opportunity for the local community to support our most vulnerable and exploited youth.

TOGETHER, WE CAN GIVE CHILDREN BACK THEIR CHILDHOOD.

$1,000 Personalized social outings

Living under the control of an abuser creates a web of distrust that must be unwound.  Social settings may be difficult and trigger traumatic memories for these children.  Helping the children reassimilate into society safely is a step-by-step process requiring resources.  Birthday celebrations, holiday parties, restaurant experiences, trips to amusement parks and even doctor or dental visits without the presence of an abuser provide essential lessons for a survivor.

$250 Welcome Package

The smallest gestures can make the biggest impact, particularly in the life of a traumatized child.  Girls often arrive to treatment with nothing but the clothes on their back. Often afraid, embarrassed and defensive, they may avoid mixing with other children. Special welcome packages, containing basic essentials and a few small treasures are the first stage to a fresh start.  Participating in recovery requires confidence.  Feeling cared for, clean and presentable on the outside is a primary step toward restoring essential dignity.
