A MINDSET MOVEMENT CHALLENGING INDIVIDUALS TO USE THEIR ABILITIES TO INTENTIONALLY FIGHT AGAINST ISOLATION.

WHO WE ARE:

Only7Seconds is a branch of Delight Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit. Only7seconds celebrated its one year anniversary on May 7th this year and are currently in our 19th month of operation, but in our 9th month of Covid-related isolation. In April alone, this year there was an 890% increase in calls to mental health hotlines. This is a time to take action and fight against isolation. This is a time to spread the message of Only7Seconds and encourage each other to check in. This is a time to make a difference… and it only truly takes 7 seconds!  However, the reality of running a non-profit is nearly impossible without support. Through the stories that we’ve heard this year, it is apparent that people are feeling hopeless and desperate. The mental health conversation is only going to continue to grow as we recover from 2020. Now more than ever we need to be spreading hope. Will you join us in spreading hope?

THE NEED:

• 48.1 million adults live with an anxiety disorder

• 1 American dies every 12 minutes by suicide 

• 50% of mental illness start by the age of 12

• Anxiety disorders affect one in three teens

• Teens spend an average of 9 hours a day on electronic devices

• Suicide is the second leading cause for those ages of 10 and 34

• Loneliness is likely to increase your risk of death by 26%

• Feeling alone and poor social connections are as bad for your health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

• Phone calls to mental health hotlines increased 890% from April 2019 to April 2020

MENTAL HEALTH IN A PANDEMIC:

• Phone calls to mental health hotlines increased 890% from April 2019 to April 2020
• 37% of people reported having thoughts of suicide more than half or nearly every day in September 2020. The rate of U.S adults seriously considering suicide in the preceding 30 days increased by 2x since 2018.
• 40.9% of U.S adults reported struggling with mental health conditions or substance use to cope with stress or emotions related to COVID-19
• Over half of 11-17-year-olds reported having thoughts of suicide or self-harm nearly every day of the previous two weeks in September 2020=
• 70% reported that one of the top three things contributing to their mental health concerns was loneliness or isolation
 

ONLY7SECONDS IN 2020:

• Presented virtual school assemblies 

• Celebrated our 1 year anniversary

• Represented at State B Basketball 

• Put up 1500 signs put up across the nation

• Launched 10 coffee shop pop-up locations

• Handed out over 15,000 Hope Notes

• Collected and gave out over 500 handwritten letters to firefighters

• Care packages given out to over 250 people including 95 firefighters

OUR GOALS:

• 1st goal: Annual Nonprofit Insurance - $4,000

• 2nd goal: Annual Operating Costs - $2,500

• 3rd goal: Coffee Shop Pop-ups (15x $150)- $2,250

• 4th goal: Help us Spread Hope (promo material, t-shirts, care-packages, hope notes, signs) $3,250
