Greetings from your 2021 Auction Committee!
We began putting the 2021 Sorensen auction together with a vision of gratitude. Although things look a little (or a lot!) different this year, we feel deeply grateful to the Sorensen and Coeur d’ Alene community, for coming together and supporting our little downtown school. Students, families, businesses, and community are connected at Sorensen Magnet School through the Arts and Humanities and a vision of togetherness. “Together We Grow, Together We Rise” and we can create great things! We are so excited to host a virtual silent auction this year and to continue to make the Annual Sorensen Auction, and our school, a unique place for our kids and families to learn and grow!
The money raised at the auction is used for all the extra arts and humanities opportunities that put the “magnet” in Sorensen Magnet School! Did you know Sorensen’s Magnet Arts & Humanities Programs are funded 100% by donations and supported by the Annual Auction? In a regular year, just over $275 per student, per year is spent to engage in hands on, immersive arts and cultural experiences during school and through before and after school classes. Performance Teams, Artists-in- residence, Arts & Humanities block opportunities... all possible thanks to the magnet fund.
Although we have not been able to physically "see" the work our studets have done this year, our Sorensen community is as strong as ever. Students continue to create and learn about amazing art and engage in the Arts and Humanities classroom block curriculum. Teachers have been able to participate in education enrichment. Our Arts Director has been able to create unique artist-in-residence experiences that bring the school community together through creating art, for both this year and next.
