Join us at the second annual "Hymnal Meets Jazz" concert, a jazz ensemble benefit hosted by Ascension Lutheran Church. The concert is a fundraising event, and this year's beneficiary is Project Outpour, a Charlotte nonprofit bringing mobile showers and hygiene services to men and women moving through homelessness. Our fundraising goal is $5,000, 100% of which will be donated to Project Outpour.
On Friday, November 5th at 7p.m. the ensemble, led by Eric Hauck, Ascension's Director of Music, will perform a medley of jazz standards and jazz interpretations of familiar hymns. The outdoor concert will be an intimate affair with limited tickets sold. In the event of rain we will move the concert into the sanctuary, adhering to the appropriate safety protocols. If you are not able to attend but still want to support the event, select the "Donate" option in the Tickets section on the right. Food is available for purchase - please order ahead in the Event Offers section below the Tickets section.
Project Outpour provides shower access to persons moving through homelessness, alleviating suffering and promoting holistic health and dignity. They bring mobile showers to four locations around Charlotte each week, and provide additional hygiene service pop-ups weekly. Dignity drives their mission, with the belief that every human wants and deserves to be and feel clean. They provide new socks, underwear, and shirts for each guest, in addition to clean towels, soap, razors, deodorant, and any other supplies they need to shower. The ultimate goal is to build a bridge between guests and the services they need to ultimately end their homelessness.
This benefit concert aligns perfectly with the mission of Ascension: "Saved by God's Grace, we are called to share His word and love with our neighbors."
