In honor of true Minnesota heritage, our design concept for our Barkitecture structure demonstrates strong ties to one of the largest ethnic groups located here, the Norwegians. Starting back in the 1950s, the Norwegian's Scandinavian influence offers simple, clean lines in a very functional form while still maintaining the beauty and integrity of the design. It was believed that the Scandinavia Design promised affordability and accessibility all while utilizing high-quality, sustainable products.   Rosemaling is also another Norwegian influence in furniture design that is highly recognizable within our regional heritage. This decorative folk painting on wood usually depicts floral designs and inscriptions but sometimes other forms such as landscapes and architectural elements.   Our design showcases sustainable products in the clean, minimalistic aesthetic expected of Scandinavian design. Natural materials in warm woods tones such as teak are used for the home-like feel while grays, blues, and cream neutrals in the plaid accent material provide the Scandinavian color palette along with the added Rosemaling focal point.   The simple roofline of the dog house also combines an additional hidden function with the built-in dog bowl holder.  The understated shape and simple construction, make it a perfect feature to add to any interior. Overall, the provided dog house design focuses on meeting those Scandinavian design elements that are expected while also providing a warm and inviting home for the proposed fur-resident. Cats love to nap in places where they feel hidden and secure, but we know, they're sleeping with one eye (or ear) open.  That's why this cozy round niche is purrr-fect for your furry feline.  The sphere has enough structure for the kitty to feel protected but is balanced with open spaces for her to keep an eye on what's going on in the rest of the home.       The jute sphere is secured to a wood base and inside, the kitty can dance around on top of a mint-colored fuzzy blanket (removable & machine washable) until it's perfectly situated for her catnap.   This cozy bed is intended for indoor use only and is approximately 20" high x 18" across.   studioMAK   * All Barkitecture auction items are made by others and are provided as donations to Joy Collaborative.  Customers agree that these items are auctioned on an “as is” basis and have no warranty.

Is YOUR Adored Kitten: Roman? Greek?  Egyptian?  Lutheran?  Wiccan?  Skittish?  Part Chicken?   Then the boBcat TOWER 2.0 is the ANSWER for you. Of the 5 Cat Personality Types (CPT): neurotic, extraverted, dominant, impulsive, and agreeable, the neurotics, extraverted, dominant, well, actually ALL of them will be smitten with this architectural temple that honors their sacred- and scaredy-cat natures.  The sleek design provides skittish kitties with the security of a high-design ‘jail’ that keeps them safe from real and perceived threats. Although the kitties can come and go like Otis in Mayberry, columns provide a barrier that protects them from being harassed while letting them peek between to keep tabs.   Behind the columns, different safety zones abound. This multi-level split design offers multiple platforms for two or more cats to lounge and/or cower. Sturdy platforms enable easy access from one level to the next. Rooftop is the purrfect observatory deck for extraverted, dominant, or impulsive kitties to watch for intruders. And pounce on unsuspecting targets.   The design which focuses on construction, sustainability, and cleaning ease requires fabrication by a digital CNC router. All of the parts snap together like legos. In addition to providing a sense of safety, the bent architecture offers a refreshing and fun style that's easy on the eyes and a source of joy for cat moms and dads. * All Barkitecture auction items are made by others and are provided as donations to Joy Collaborative.  Customers agree that these items are auctioned on an “as is” basis and have no warranty.     Dimensions 28”x48”x57”

The Juliette is a mini dedication to The Julia Apartments designed by Momentum Design Group (MDG) and completed in 2018. Our team felt this award-winning project located in the heart of the Northeast Minneapolis Art District would be the perfect structure to draw inspiration from and a great place for your pet to call home!   The Juliette is a representation of the materials, style, and the unique triangular shape of The Julia. The structure contains building materials and samples from projects at the firm, including siding samples, flooring samples, and artificial turf. Our company has a surplus of samples we can no longer store at our office, and we want to give those samples a second life. Additionally, our submission includes homemade pet bandanas from our project team using fabric samples from our office. This also aligns with the sustainability goals our firm values.   The team designed this structure to be versatile for a variety of pets. We created an artificial turf platform that is removable to be cleaned easily. This platform also creates a covered area below for pets that want to remain cozy in a corner. The open skylight provides a visual for the owner to see their pet in the structure while also providing light to the pet below. The cushion on the inside is removable for easy cleanability, and the luxury vinyl plank subfloor is scratch-resistant.   We hope that our unique design brings joy to a pet owner and their animal companion for years to come! With the increase in working from home this past year, we are proposing a new way to work with your pet. A bench for you. A bench for your fur friend. Our design fits within a modern aesthetic home and is intended to be a usable piece of furniture in your living or working space. The bench will be made from pieces of sanded plywood that are finger-jointed together to create a clean angled finish. The spaces between the wooden slats allow for a variety of levels of visibility and for dramatic affect. A variation in heights provides accessibility to different sized humans and fur friends. Removable and washable cushions are hand-stitched in order to provide easy of maintenance. Our goal in the material selection was to include our contacts in construction and supply. The wood will be salvaged and the fabric is also being re-purposed for this project. We are very excited to see how individual owners and their pets put this newest piece of Barkitecture to use in their homes! Dimensions: 48w x 30d x 30h   * All Barkitecture auction items are made by others and are provided as donations to Joy Collaborative.  Customers agree that these items are auctioned on an “as is” basis and have no warranty.

The shaded dog bed presented here is a 3-season habitat for dogs who wish to lounge, protected in the out-of-doors. The layered screen lounge is intended as a sustainable construction that is adaptable across various breeds. Primarily constructed of aluminum mesh and wood fins, the major materials highlight a dedication to rapidly renewable materials in the construction industry. To maximize occupant comfort, the cushioned lounge is encased in a perforated screen that allows breezes through while shading from harsh sunlight. The wood fins wrap under the cushions in order to lift the lounge off of the ground, enhancing views while minimizing the impact of the structure on the flora below. The picture-frame composition of the fins allows one large and one small structure to be created from one lot of sheating. It is important to note that the design caters to dogs of various breeds, promoting equity in access to sustainable comfort across all manner of canines. Either size structure features an internal shelf with cubbies for water and beloved toys.
