PROJECT SUMMARY
Founded in 2020, Tech Fest Live is an educational technology events company that empowers youth and young adults to explore technology careers and disciplines through up-skilling at our annual tech event. Our mission is to get underrepresented youth and young adults in the city of Houston into more technical related careers and studies.
PROJECT CONTEXT
There is a major lack of diversity within the tech industry. As this disparity grows it will have a devastating ripple effect on the economics surrounding minorities if we don’t work towards a solution. The convergence of technologies will create a shortage of jobs for the global workforce and require new skills to be learned and obtained.
PROJECT PURPOSE
Tech Fest Live exists to give underrepresented youth and young adults access to the possibilities technology has to offer by exposing them to the latest processes, ideas, and concepts. Through a fun and entertaining environment, we facilitate an annual tech festival bringing in industry leaders and tech enthusiasts to teach students about the world of tech around them.
As of 2020, we’ve worked with over 24 panelists and presenters with help from RI Studios, VMWare, HNTB, Patchr, Kids Robotics Academy, The Greater Houston Partnership, Impact Hub, and more.
