As members of the I Am, We Are (IAWA) Board of Directors, we are coming together to support a cause we believe in and asking for your support. You can learn more about our board and view all members here.
IAWA is dedicated to creating a world where all youth are socially engaged, globally aware, and economically free. We strive to empower youth with the tools to confidently own their futures. We employ an experiential approach to give youth knowledge of self, stretch their understanding of who they can be, and help them develop an entrepreneurial mindset so that they can create their own pathways to realize their goals. Learn more about our work by visiting our website or viewing the trailer to our documentary.
Your contribution will support the 2020 expansion of our program. Our three and a half years pilot gave us an in-depth and practical understanding of the desires of youth, the challenges youth face, and the resources youth need to succeed. In 2020, we will move from one feeder school to four schools, while increasing the numbers of youth we will support. We are evolving our model to also include community-centered outreach and training that will enhance parents and teachers’ social and emotional intelligence. Moving forward, we are also increasing our direct support services and programming for youth facilitators to enhance their employability and get them on the path to achieving their career goals. To accomplish these goals, we are hiring social workers that will work directly with our parents, ambassadors, youth facilitators, and schools.
Funds raised through this campaign will assist in covering salaries for the social workers and youth facilitators as well as assist with other programmatic expenses such as transport for the ambassadors to and from home.
Thank you for your support.
