The mission of Defending Dignity began as a survivor-informed outreach in February, 2018. We believe in the healing power of connecting in healthy relationships with those who have experienced the trauma of prostitution. We will bring love and acceptance into illicit massage parlors, on the streets, at truck stops, through online escort ads, anywhere people are buying and selling sex. Our hope is to identify victims of human trafficking and exploitation and defend their right for justice, safety, and healing. By giving simple gifts, friendship, and resources we hope to intersect the lives of the women we meet at an opportune time.
Our dream is for true healing and recovery to happen for every person we meet. We will be faithful to offer sacred spaces to express joys, sorrows, and fears. Whether it's praying over her in a massage parlor, recommending a court advocate to meet her needs, or just connecting over coffee, God knows each woman's true name and identity. We will honor her journey as she discovers who she was created to be and begins to love herself fully.
When there is a case of human trafficking, we will report to the proper authorities and refer to victim-centered local agencies. We will stand against exploitation in our city until every woman knows her true name!
