For all of you who knew mine and Lori's dad, you know this picture captures him perfectly. Always making people laugh with his infectious personality. Our hearts will never be the same without him. 

I was interviewing for the Executive Director position with Drive a Senior ATX when dad fell ill. He was so excited for me for this opportunity and even while in the hospital he asked me, every day, did you get the job? I never got the chance to tell him yes, dad, I got it! So this fundraiser is a tribute to my dad for always supporting my sister and me in whichever direction we decided to go. 

This past August, Lori and I moved dad down here from Dallas. During the past eight months or so, prior to his passing, we got to spend a lot of time with him as did Jaclyn and John, his grandkids - and we are so grateful for that time together. We are also grateful that he was here with us and we were able to support him where needed. If we're lucky, we have an opportunity to care for our aging parents when things become difficult for them. And while you may have to, at times, dig deep for the patience needed, know that caring for them is a profound act of love.

In my short time here at Drive a Senior ATX, I have learned so much about how important it is to help our aging family and friends. Losing access to mobility is difficult enough, but it adds to social isolation which has a devastating effect on mental and physical health, and longevity. This organization addresses each of these issues and does so with compassion and dedication. 

I set up this fundraiser in honor of my amazing dad to support the services we provide to our senior community. I hope you'll join me in honoring him, or perhaps someone in your own life whom you've cared for or are caring for. Any amount helps and will go a long way in reaching as many people in need as possible.
