Legendary singer-songwriter, Bill Withers, wrote a song called Lean on Me. The lyrics beautifully capture what Drive a Senior ATX is all about - having someone to lean on. He wrote, "Lean on me when you're not strong, and I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on - for, it won't be long, til I'm gonna need somebody to lean on." We're ALL going to need someone to lean on at some point in our lives. Who are YOU going to lean on?

Drive a Senior has been serving older adults since 1985, by enabling them to live independently, avoid social isolation, and age in place by providing volunteer-based transportation and other support services at no cost to the client.

In May of 2023, the US Surgeon General released an advisory calling attention to the public health crisis of loneliness, isolation, and lack of connection in our country. It has been said that social isolation for older adults is as harmful to your health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day! And, it's associated anxiety and depression, a 50% increased risk of dementia and 29% increased risk of heart disease,

We are fully committed to addressing these devastating impacts of social isolation, but we need your  help! With a rapidly aging population, many older adults have little or no family to support them and we are their only option. We NEVER want to turn anyone away who is in need of our services - but without the help of our generous community, that may become a realtiy. Together, we can realize our vision of reaching each and every senior in our community and let them lean on us.

As one client recently told us, "I've been around for 87 years, and while I've taken part in "giving back" many times, there has never been a more worthwhile and appreciated program than Drive a Senior. Thank you for making my life so much easier!" This is only one, of many, example of the gratitude expressed to us daily by our clients - letting us know that what we're doing is making a huge difference in their lives and in our community.
