Dallas Christian Women's Job Corps

In 1998, five women came together with a desire to serve women coming out of crisis. Twenty-five years later, Dallas Christian Women's Job Corps (DCWJC) continues to empower women who are transitioning out of crisis or desiring a new start in life after being deprived of education, skills, and confidence.

As we expand our services and ability to better serve the women who walk through our doors, our continued goal is to be a place of respite and hope, as we help meet the overwhelming needs of the 75228 community and surrounding areas.

Our core Workforce Readiness and Life Skills Program (WRLS), serves women who are one step out of a crisis, i.e., exiting incarceration, transitioning out of homelessness, recovering from drug addiction, recently widowed, and/or in need of enhanced skills to re-enter the job market. This program contains three cornerstones: Bible Study to help each woman build a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; Job Skills Training including: computer skills, resume writing, interview skills, goal planning and time management; and Life Skills Training including: parenting/relationship building, communication skills, conflict resolution, budgeting, and nutrition. In addition, we have a modified online version of WRLS that we conduct at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center.  In 2023, DCWJC added the following transformative opportunities to women in need:

  • English as a Second Language: ESL is now offered year-round as a self-paced online program using Rosetta Stone licenses.
  • Pre-WRLS program: This program is available to participants who need to improve their English before participating in the full WRLS program.  They can participate in both the ESL lab and a subset of the WRLS classes with the goal of improving their English enough to participate in the next full WRLS session.
  • WorkSmart seminars: This program covers various topics such as time management, creating a budget using Excel, creating a vision board using PowerPoint, creating a professional resume using Word, and repairing credit.  WorkSmart seminars are offered throughout the year to women in our community (not limited to participants or alumnae).

Through the generosity of donors like YOU, Dallas Christian Women's Job Corps will continue to provide women with Hope and a Future.
