Christmas Store @ the CRC
Help us share the joy of Christmas by serving at the Christmas Store where families will purchase new gifts for $1, $3, and $5 taking the stress out of the holiday season.
Most of the families who will be assisted through the Christmas Store are working people who simply cannot absorb the added expenses of the holiday season. Such families are able to maintain places to live, cars to drive and food on the table if there are no unplanned expenses in their lives-such as cars breaking down or illness. Although a time of joy and family, the Christmas Season presents such additional expense beyond basic living.
Since this is our first Christmas Store we are limiting who can shop to families who are served by the ministries at the Christian Resource Center and its supporting churches.
Parents, please bring a flier or brochure from the CRC member ministry you receive assistance from or a bulletin from CRC supporting church you attend.
These include Reveal Resource Center, Life Bridge Job Corps, CARS, Christian Family Counseling Service, Job Seekers Network, Faith Restoration Home, Austin Pregnancy Resource Center, Christian Compassion Center, Nineveh, Career LIfe Ministry Trade School, Hill Country Bible Church, Austin Christian Fellowship, Bethany United Methodist Church, Balcones Country Club and Smile Dental Centers in Austin.
Parents should bring the following:
1. Birth certificates or school registration papers for each child in the family; 2. A bulletin or flier from the church or business referring them or; 3. A flier or brochure from the ministry that they are served by through the CRC.
Parents will register at the front door and then be paired with a personal shopper who will help them carry the gifts they select for their children. Parents may select up to 3 gifts per child, although this is dependent on the number of toys that are donated. Each gift will be priced at $1, $3, or $5 with bicycles or large items priced at $20. Once selected and paid for toys can be taken to the wrapping station where parents and volunteers will wrap the gifts.
Activities for the children will be provided outside including games, Santa and a craft project. Cookies and hot chocolate will be available to add to the festive spirit. Prayer warriors will be available to provide personal support and encouragement for our shoppers.
Toys are donated by CRC supporting churches, member ministries and local businesses. New toys for infants to teen-agers are needed. Donated toys can be dropped off in the gymnasium Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday 10 am to 1 pm or 4 pm to 8 pm. Donors can stay and help set up the store a while too! We need donations of Christmas wrapping paper and tape as well.
All of the money received through the Christmas Store will go into a benevolence fund that will be used to assist families who apply for rent and utility assistance in 2019.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome! A great way for a family to serve together!
