You don't have to save the date to save a child - Help Change a Child's Story today!

I have been aware of CASA for more than ten years. I have known several volunteers who gave of themselves to help children have an advocate to intercede for them in ways they might not otherwise have a voice. I have recently gotten a much "closer-up" view of CASA recently when I was invited to join the Board of Directors for the CASA of Midwest KY. I honestly had no idea how great the need is for an organization to do what CASA does: Advocate in the courts for abused and neglected children. It takes a lot of effort from a lot of people and it also takes a lot of financial support from a lot of people.

That is why I have created this fundraiser for CASA in "CASA's Virtual Month of Giving". In this economy, I understand everyone cannot afford to give to every worthy cause they would like to support. I understand that some folks have to watch every penny. But if you are in a position to do so, I would ask that you consider making a financial donation to this worthy cause.

Thank you for taking the time to read this information. Please see below to learn more about CASA...

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate.

CASA volunteers are community members just like you, who are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA will be the one constant adult the child knows as they navigate through the court system, providing much needed stability. Once appointed by the judge, CASAs research the case, review documents, interview people, and make a report to the court regarding what is in the “best interest” of abused and neglected children in terms of services, placement, visitation, reunification and permanency!

Despite the COVID-19 global pandemic, there is still a huge need for volunteers! In 2021, CASA of Midwest Kentucky, Inc. was able to serve 130 children and close 39 cases. At this moment, we have 33 active volunteers that are serving 88 children in Hopkins, Henderson, Crittenden, Muhlenberg, Union and Webster Counties. All donations raised directly supports the efforts of our volunteers as they continue to advocate for children and families.

Youth with a CASA or GAL volunteer often share that having a caring adult advocate for their best interests makes a lasting difference. Click this link to hear from youth in their own words how CASA helped them!

Please visit  www.midwestcasa.org or give us a call at (270) 245-5112 (Hopkins, Webster, Crittenden, & Muhlenberg Counties) or (270) 957-5044 (Henderson Union Counites) to find out more about becoming a volunteer!

CASA's Month of Giving to Change a Child’s Story will be instrumental in providing the needed funds to continue our growth and serving the abused and neglected children that need an advocate.  Please partner with us either in giving your time (volunteering) or treasury (make a donation).
