Uprooting White Supremacy from the Inside

How do we dismantle oppressive systems in our inner world, in order to create equitable systems in our outer world?

Join us for a four-part cohort series where we will examine and uproot the ways in which white supremacy is showing up in our personal and professional contexts, and reorient toward liberation.  This training draws from Building Bridges' conflict transformation model, and pulls from white facilitators' lived experiences countering their own internalized white dominance.  Uprooted seeks to create a space for white-identified individuals to increase their skills, accountability, connection, and support for dismantling white supremacy.

BEFORE YOU SIGN UP - Please COMPLETE AN APPLICATION.  Your participation is pending a completed applicaiton and acceptance into the cohort. You will be prompted by a staff memeber to sign up with a code, AFTER being accepted into the Cohort.

To attend, you must have completed a Groundwork Session, and filled out an application. Please contact Maren (event organizer) directly for more information. maren@buildingbridgesshift.org

Why a Cohort Model?

We are so excited to offer Uprooted in online format and in a cohort model!  We believe that meeting together in a group/affinity/caucus of white folks for the four sessions together will only increase and clarify our will, skill and capacity to engage as anti-racists for the long haul. This work is personal before it is professional, and there is a new call for white folks to create a new culture together in community. Where we break free from white solidairty and white silence. Where we move through white guilt into curiosity and humility. Where we build our tolerance and capacity to talk about race and root ourselves in our WHY and our role in the movement towards liberation.

"There is no better than adversity.  Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time." - Malcolm X

"White people have a very, very serious problem.  And they should start thinking about what they can do about it.  Take me out of it." - Toni Morrison

"The first task of whites in these struggles is to be vocal and visible." Anne Braden

*Although this is a space intended for white individuals, other racial identities are welcome if they would like to attend.
