I have always had "soft spot" for helping women and children, especially those in need.  For years I have been curious about short term mission trips,  but have allowed my fears, lack of confidence and concerns about resources hold me back.  I was recently introduced to the Belle and Sparrows group by a dear friend.  This groups mission is designed to share the love of Christ while equipping women with skills to create income and improve quality of life. Giving women hope, dignity, and above all sharing the love of Christ in word and action really spoke to me.  I felt the tug in my heart and knew I had to go!

Our team of women will be traveling to Guatemala on a 7 day trip to serve alongside an established organization called, "Welcome to Our Father's House." There we will serve the women and children of the Tabacal village.  We will share the love of Christ, teach skills for women to earn imcome, provide medical care, training of childbirth and nutrition classes. We will also hold a one day conference for women in the surrounding area of Santo Tomas and visit the elderly at the senior center.  I will be assisting the medical team with vision screenings, as well as serving at the women's conference and senior center in whatever capacity needed. 

For me this is a leap of faith!  It is stretching me beyond my comfort zone into areas unfamiliar and unknown.   I am approaching this mission with a heart of surrender, as I continue to hear the words of Isaiah 6:8 "Here I am, send me! " repeat in my head and heart.  I step out in faith with hopeful expectation of seeing God work in powerful ways.  I believe with all my heart, he will equip, protect, provide, and reveal himself to the women of Tabacal, the team and myself.
