Beavers Northwest will be hosting a Nature Walk at the Yesler Swamp on August 31st from 6:30pm to 8pm.
Participants will meet Beavers Northwest staff at the E16 Parking Lot near the Douglas Research Conservatory at the Center for Urban Horticulture at 6:30pm. Beavers Northwest staff will lead attendees on a walk to explore Yesler Swamp and provide context on the beaver presence in this area. This is a great opportunity to see the impacts that beavers have on ecosystems, observe the plants and wildlife that thrive in beaver-modified systems, and discuss beaver coexistence in our human-modified ecosystems.
The walk will last 1.5 hours and participants will travel a distance of approximately 0.5 miles on flat gravel trails and boardwalks. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and to dress for the weather. For best viewing of wildlife, we recommend bringing binoculars. We will have a few pairs available to borrow.
