Welcome to Slalom Chicago's fundraising page for the Back2School-Illinois/LGBT Build-A-Kit Fundraiser!
About the event: On Friday, October 22, 2021, Slalom volunteers will join others to help build back-to-school kits for low-income Illinois families. The event is made possible through a partnership between Back2School Illinois and the LGBT Chamber of Commerce in Illinois. In the meantime, other volunteers will be busy helping to write Notes of Inspiration that will be included in those kits and others. Here's why we're onboard:
- In 2020, Illinois families continued to struggle. Schools lacked funds and too many parents couldn’t afford to buy even basic school supplies for their kids. The impact of COVID-19 dramatically increased need across the state.
- Since 2007, the Back 2 School Program has sent more than 275,000 needy children back to school with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom. In 2021, our goal is to distribute more than 30,000 of our signature Back 2 School kits to help even more Illinois children — so we need your generous support!

For every $19 you donate, a kit can be produced! Each kit contains about 30 basic supplies, customized to particular student population groups, from Pre-K through 12th grade.
