We believe that theatre is for the entire community, and we further believe that Shakespeare is a cultural experience that everyone ought to have access to. Therefore, in 2020, we launched Shakespeare in the Park, a program that brings to life a full production of one of Shakespeare’s phenomenal works. We strive to make this production absolutely free, as a gift to the Waco community. Our goal is to make this an event that removes all barriers to entry, holding it in a public outdoor space where anyone can attend who would like to.
Shakespeare in the Park is an annual event of Wild Imaginings, the finale of each of our seasons of productions. But we need your help to ensure that this event is a success and one which will be able to be perpetuated in the years to come!
This year, we will be presenting Julius Caesar as a modern-day feminist story. Rather than the halls of ancient Rome, this particular betrayal will occur in the halls of a local sorority house. Our goal with Shakespeare in the Park is to bring these classic works to life in a fresh way, making them relatable to all who come and see it. We cannot wait to share this one with Waco!
It will be performed June 1-4 at the Indian Springs Amphitheatre, right next to the Suspension Bridge.
