Established in 1929, Wheeling Country Day School is a non-profit, independent school for children ranging from preschool through eighth grade.  As an independent school, Wheeling Country Day School relies heavily on the generosity of parents, alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations to fill the gap between the cost of educating and the revenue generated from tuition. 

Tuition alone does not cover the annual cost of providing a WCDS education to each student. In fact, there is a large gap between what tuition provides and the actual cost of educating students. Strong participation from our school family as well as the community at large is a vital lifeline of support for the general well-being of Wheeling Country Day School, as well as a powerful endorsement of the importance of our work when submitting grant applications and funding requests for specific innovations and improvements to our school.

Each gift gives us a chance to be creative and utilize every inch of our beautiful outdoor campus, as well as the state-of-the-art classrooms within.  Thanks to you we’ve been able to expand our footprint well beyond our campus and into the heart of our community, establishing Branch Classrooms within some of the most historic areas around town.

With your help, we’re redefining what it means to be a private school with a public purpose. We steer into challenges, we fail spectacularly, we learn in color, and we reach heights no one could have imagined just a few short years ago.
