3 Miracles for Belle

Doris "Belle" Cooper was a miracle from the beginning.  The first miracle was her and her twin brother were born at 32 weeks. She weighed 3lbs 5 oz and had a hole in her heart. When she was 9 months old she weighed 9 lbs but had open heart surgery at Cooks in Ft Worth. This became the second miracle. She was thriving after the surgery.  Then on June 29, 2021 she had a near fatal drowning. They had to bring her back. Her life and her family’s life was turned upside down. Belle's third miracle and her biggest journey had just begun. She was taken off the ventilator at 3 weeks. She is a fighter! She turned 2 in the hospital July 24. She was diagnosed with an anoxic brain injury, spasticity, and seizures. The neurologist sent her home and since then, we have fought for therapy and help. Belle has done better than they first thought she would do. We go to a neurologist in Dallas at UT Pediatric. They have been an advocate for us and we are so happy. We want to do Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy with Dr Harch in New Orleans, but Insurance and Medicaid will not cover it. The cost is $11,000 plus living expenses for 2 months. This is just our first segment of our Journey for Belle. Please help Belle and children like her who have suffered from a brain inury.

Many have asked how they can provide support to Belle and our family.  We are so honored by everyone’s willingness to help, so have decided to partner with Team Luke Hope for Minds to raise funds for Belle's continuing care and other kids suffering similar injuries.  These injuries are devastating for families emotionally and financially.  A portion of the funds raised will support the mission of Team Luke Hope for Minds, which is so desperately needed for many families.  Their mission is to enrich the lives of children with a brain injury and give hope to their families through support and education.
