The OGO Mission

As a 501c3 non-profit, Operation Get Out (OGO) provides Blue Mind experiences, outings, and events for first responders, front line workers, military, veterans, surviving families, units, organizations, and agencies to intentionally utilize the evidence-based, therapeutic benefits of being in, near, and on the water for positive mental, emotional and physical wellness impact where #waterismedicine.

OGO relies solely on donations and event proceeds to provide paddle, wake surf, boating, nature or trail outings, and other activities on or in the water that can assist others to reset, refresh or unlock after traumatic events, stress, fatigue, loss PTS, anxiety, or depression. Water has scientifically been shown to reduce blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol while increasing serotonin, dopamine, and adrenaline - all of which science shows to be directly linked to affecting mental and emotional wellness.

Our Story

We share the waters with others after Kristin McLain, one of our fellow paddlers, wake surfers, and a flight nurse, lost her life in a rescue mission. Through the years, we unknowingly witnessed the amazing grace that water had upon her spirit and soul as a first responder. It let her emotions flow, washed away her fatigue, gave her inner buoyancy, and unlocked the pain inside. Soon after we lost her, we befriended and embraced a similar water story with the Jessica Hollis family. Both of these ladies were Travis County First Responders who lost their lives within six months of each other while serving their communities.

Through these two losses, our families have joined together to start OGO. We are first responders, military, nurses, and surviving family members of first responders and military, and directly connected to the water sports and wellness industry. Our passion and desire are to collectively inspire and share opportunities for others to utilize the therapeutic benefits of outdoors and water for their own mental and emotional wellness.

We know water works to move and mend the soul; humbly, we've witnessed it with so many who have selflessly served our community and country. We have seen and heard the testimonies that it has unlocked and reset others to a more positive place of mental and emotional wellness. #letthewatermoveyou

We greatly appreciate your support - on and off the water!

The Entire OGO Team
