The Year We All Stayed Gnome is an online auction to support The Museum of Chincoteague Island. The Covid-19 Pandemic hit the Museum hard this year, with revenue lost due to a late opening and the loss of group tours. This auction, we hope, will help us to close the gap left by this terrible disease.The auction is held in conjunction with A Gathering of Island Gnomes at the Museum. Island residents are creating gnomes meant to represent many of our island characters. Many items for the auction have been donated by local artists, craftsmen, island businesses and reflect the people and culture of Chincoteague Island. This is in keeping with the Museum's mission of preserving the culture and heritage of the Island of Chincoteague. We look forward to returning to some semblance of normal operations in (we hope) the not too distant future.
