Pets play an important role in the lives of homebound seniors, offering daily love and companionship. When volunteers reported seniors sharing their Meals on Wheels lunches with their pets – going hungry so their furry companion wouldn’t suffer – we knew it was essential to care for our seniors’ pets too.

That is why we introduced the aniMeals program in 2018. Once a month, volunteers bring a special delivery of pet food in addition to the daily, nutritious lunches for our seniors.

Caring for our seniors and their pets is one of the many ways Meals on Wheels is truly more than a meal.
