The international summer camp GYV has been in operation every summer since 1979, as young people ages 15-19 and staff from more than 15 countries gather in Bedford, Virginia to form a living working model of the global community. Here in a traditional summer camp setting accredited by the American Camping Association, lifelong friendships are formed based on respect as a standard of human interaction. Now more than ever, programs like the Global Youth Village that support mutual respect, dialogue, empathetic listening, and friendship are critical to the fabric of American and international security.
