Description: The shaded dog bed presented here is a 3-season habitat for dogs who wish to lounge, protected in the out-of-doors. The layered screen lounge is intended as a sustainable construction that is adaptable across various breeds. Primarily constructed of aluminum mesh and wood fins, the major materials highlight a dedication to rapidly renewable materials in the construction industry. To maximize occupant comfort, the cushioned lounge is encased in a perforated screen that allows breezes through while shading from harsh sunlight. The wood fins wrap under the cushions in order to lift the lounge off of the ground, enhancing views while minimizing the structures impact on the flora below. The picture-frame composition of the fins allows one large and one small structure to be created from one lot of sheating. It is important to note that the design caters to dogs of various breeds, promoting equity in access to sustainable comfort across all manner of canine. Either size structure features an internal shelf with cubbies for water and beloved toys. Dimensions:  48w x 36d x 34h   Designers: Snow Kreilich Architects: Tyson McElvain, Julie Snow, Nick Wallin, Alita Bergen Fabrication:  VIRTUAL feYerwerks, Robert Feyereisen Digital fabrication, Aaron Taylor Turf cushion, Haley Upholstery   *Note all Barkitecture furniture items are in-kind donations in support of Joy Collaborative. Description: Our inspiration comes from the idea that the best homes are simple, efficient, open, and are shared with others. Our design combines a traditional doghouse including a cozy space at floor level for your favorite canine with a cat perch above complete with climbing wall and fabric hammock. Both dog and cat can live cohesively and comfortably under one roof. The structure allows a cat to climb around and provides pet friendly plants such as cat-nip, silver vine, or cat thyme that act as a stress reliever for the inhabitants. The structure is meant to be a simple, sculptural representation of the basic forms needed to accomplish our house. The structure is both functional and decorative with simple plywood sheeting cut out and layered to form a topography that is habitable and useable. The plywood sheets are spaced apart offering natural light, air movement, and opportunities for alternate exterior cladding such as plants/vines or fabric/cloth. The woven climbing wall to the cat perch is an example of how the house can be alternately clad and changed based on the demands of the occupants. No matter what the final cladding based on your pets needs, the essential structure is simple, solid, and open like any good home.  Dimensions: 36" x 36" x 45"h Designers: Pope Architects: Mai Xiong, Lauri Brachmann, Eric Young, Cole Alexander Gardner Builders; Josh Picard, Kia Arendt Contributor: Good Lines Design  *Note all Barkitecture furniture items are in-kind donations in support of Joy Collaborative.
