The Guadalupe Centers Scholarship Golf Tournament was established in 2004 to raise funds for our students. The tournament supports two scholarships:
The Tony Aguirre Scholarship: supports students pursing a private high school education that are engaged with the Guadalupe Centers as a program participant or vounteer.
Gilbert Guerrero Scholarship: supports graduates of Guadalupe Centers High School pursing a post secondary education.
Who is Bob Soltero
Bob was born November 5, 1927 and grew up in the west-side community of Kansas City, MO where he experienced a lot of discrimination and prejudice. At 17, in November of 1944, he enlisted in the Navy. After his discharge in 1948, Bob returned to Kansas City where he married Carmen Tinoco and returned to the restaurant business. Bob has served on the Guadalupe Centers’ board of directors for over 10 years. He was a sponsor of both the center’s culinary arts school and Guadalupe Centers High School. Bob has also had a life-long love of golf, caddying as a young boy, starting to play golf at 15, and spending more than 20 years working at the Swope Memorial Golf Course.
