TABLAS CREEK VINEYARD 2017 Dianthus:  49% Mourvedre, 39% Grenache and 12% Counoise.  A dry in the style of Provence, France that combines the rich flavors of watermelon and plum from the Mourvedre, bright strawberry from the Grenache, and spicy raspberry from the Counoise.  Rated 91 by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, which commented: A Mourvèdre-dominated blend that nods to Tavel in color and style, revealing a deep-pitched bouquet of Provence herbs and earthy Griotte cherry. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with lovely cut and persistence, and it concludes with a long, sappy finish that shows some light, mouthwatering phenolic grip from its brief time on skins.  $30 Value FOXEN 2016 Chardonnay Block UU:  Polished, nuanced and understated, with lovely white orchard fruit and floral character to match the wine's mid-weight personality. As always, this is an especially delicate, perfumed style Chardonnay from Foxen’s Bien Nacido Chardonnay Vineyard Block UU.  One of the quirkiest California Chardonnays you will come across. The plant material here is Chardonnay grafted onto own-rooted Riesling rootstock that was originally planted in the early 1970s. PARAGON VINEYARD Tangent 2018 Pinot Gris:  This white wine varietal originated in France’s Burgundy region and is now grown in one of Paragon Vineyard’s sustainable vine blocks here in the Central Coast.  With one of the longest growing seasons in the state, the soils are a mixture of volcanic, clay loam and rocky marine sediment, offering few nutrients. The temperate climate brings extended hang time, and the soils cause the vines to stress and strain as they grow. These two factors ultimately culminate in fully ripe, concentrated fruit that bursts with flavor.  Aromatics of orange blossom, pineapple, grapefruit, and a hint of pepper are followed by concentrated flavors of ripe peaches, tangerine and green apple. Medium-bodied with crisp acidity and a creamy mouthfeel, this wine stays long and the palate, and pairs well with a wide range of foods including seafood, pasta with light sauces, and even grilled sausage.  $20 Value TRUE MYTH 2015 Tinto:  This lovely red wine is a combination of 50% Syrah from the Edna Valley, 30% Tempranillo from the Arroyo Grande Valley, and 20% Grenache from Paso Robles – a noble Central Coast blend.  The wine is big and rich yet smooth and silky, with intense flavors of black currants, blueberries, and spice, with notable tannins and a nice long, lingering finish.  $25 Value

Sextant Wines 2018 Caverio Founder’s Collection:  Hand picked from the winery’s RBZ vineyard in the El Pomar sub AVA of Paso Robles, the 2018 Caverio is comprised of 85% Grenache, 6% Syrah, and 9% Mourvèdre. Each varietal is fermented and aged separately with a mix of new and used French and Hungarian oak.   The winery was particularly happy with the way their Grenache showed this vintage, so they chose to blend in a small portion of Syrah for tannin and Mourvèdre to add depth to the aroma. Each varietal was barrel aged for 20 months before bottling, and this wine was bottle aged for nearly a year before release.  The wine exhibits a layered symphony of aroma and flavor. Red plum, strawberry, cinnamon and nutmeg immediately open up in the glass. As it breathes, you’ll find notes of fresh potting soil and red clay. The palate has a watermelon like smoothness, with creamy tannin and structure that invites you back for more after every sip.  Will live long in the bottle.  $70 Value VINA ROBLES 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon:  Lush aromas of black cherry, caramel and mocha cream. The palate starts soft and inviting, with more cherry and caramel, then firms up with tighter tannins and penetrating acidity.   Winemaker’s notes: “The fruit for our 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon was selected from two of our estate vineyards in Paso Robles – Huerhuero and Creston Valley. Huerhuero Vineyard, in the hilly terrain between the El Pomar and Geneseo Districts, benefits from the moderating Pacific breezes that blow through the Templeton Gap in the afternoon as well as its limiting calcareous subsoils. Creston Valley Vineyard has picture perfect high terrain, southern exposure and shallow soils with noticeable granulated limestone. Both of these vineyards produce Cabernet Sauvignon with an overall balance of expressive flavors and structure. All the blocks were handpicked and sorted in the early morning to ensure quality and uniformity of ripeness. Then the fruit was destemmed and gently crushed into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Pumpovers took place regularly to enhance color and help extract tannins from the skin. After pressing, the wine was racked into barrels to complete malolactic fermentation. While the majority of wine was aged in French oak, we also used some American and Hungarian oak barrels for added nuances and complexity. After 8 months of aging and extensive blending trials, a bit of Petit Verdot was added to enhance structure. The final blend was then aged in barrels for an additional 12 months to fully integrate before bottling”.  93 pt. rating Wine Enthusiast Editor’s Choice.   $25 Value
