A big thank you to longtime CCF friends, Jonathan and Angela Scott, The Big Cat People,  for producing and donating  this digital OPEN EDITION signed print, designed especially  for tonight's event and CCF's 30-years of celebrating conservation.   Size: 20in x 28in     Please note that all fine art prints are shipped unframed for maximum efficiency and quality assurance.   Shakira and Cubs was taken at Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. Shakira, the cheetah mother cuddling her cubs (2008) was captured just being a mother--it is a thing of wonder; the sense of nurturing and caring, of keeping watch and being vigilant lest danger approaches, is an unwritten covenant common to all families. The gift of love, of being a mother, of sacrifice and devotion is wonderfully inspiring to observe.   Over the past 50 years, Jonathan & Angela Scott have recorded every aspect of their existence and their travels through their stunning photography. After many years, Jonathan & Angela have hand-picked photographs from their life’s work to be shared as fine art prints. These particular photographs draw the viewers closer, revealing the essence of the creatures the Scotts have photographed so that they might in some way speak for themselves.   Their current project, the Sacred Nature Initiative, aims to remind people of the fragility of our planet and the importance of connecting back to nature. The mission of the initiative is to Inspire, Educate, and Conserve, and the most powerful method for inspiration is their photography.   Currently, their fine art prints are offered exclusively through 'Thuranima Collective'. Visit thuranima.com to browse their collections and purchase their artwork. Jonathan & Angie's digital signature on the bottom right-hand corner.   Just released a new YouTube video this morning telling the 'Behind the Shot' story of the Shakira and Cubs photograph: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMqtoHrlq0k   For more information about Jonathan & Angela Scott- TheBigCatPeople.com https://thuranima.com/collections/natures-youth/products/shakira-and-cubs/   Donated by Thuranima.com, Jonathan and Angela Scott.

This amazing Cheetah book is autographed by renowned fashion photographer Mark Segal.   Book bound in Italy and measures about 14 x 10.    Segal's celebration of this regal feline also records the cheetah's alarming path toward extinction.   "For the past 15 years, American photographer Mark Segal’s fascination with the world’s fastest land mammal has taken him across the US, Europe, Kenya, Namibia, and South Africa. What started out as an aesthetic obsession evolved as he deepened his understanding of this fierce yet fragile creature and its rapid path toward extinction. “My desire changed from simply wanting to experience cheetahs for my own selfish curiosity to wanting to contribute to their conservation.”   Segal has traveled to various cheetah research and conservation centers, in an effort to show the beauty of this magnificent predator and to draw awareness to its endangered state in the wild. Known for his moody and emotional portrait and fashion work, Segal takes a personal approach to photographing nature, employing a vision that differs distinctly from most wildlife photographers.   The images collected in this monograph, designed by Fabien Baron, stand at a waypoint in Segal’s elusive and ongoing odyssey toward a deeper understanding of this regal feline and the mysterious hold it has on him. His wish is that viewers will be captivated as he is by the beauty of the cheetah and will recognize the imperative to protect the animal and ensure its survival on our planet.   Donated by longtime friend and supporter Mark Segal.

Laurie Marker with Cheetah Chewbaaka, Cheetah Conservation Fund, Namibia    A ONE OF A KIND, Autographed, commemorative, 20x30 inch print featuring Laurie Marker with Chewbaaka for CCF's 30th Anniversary Auction photographed by Frans Lanting.  Date Created: Aug 21, 2009   Featuring Signatures from both Dr. Laurie Marker and Frans Lanting   Value: Priceless   Frans Lanting has been hailed as one of the great photographers of our time. His influential work appears in books, magazines, and exhibitions around the world. Born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, he earned a master’s degree in economics then moved to the United States to study environmental planning. Soon after, he began photographing the natural world–and never turned back. For three decades he has documented wildlife from the Amazon to Antarctica to promote understanding about the Earth and its natural history through images that convey a passion for nature and a sense of wonder and concern about our living planet. Lanting’s work has been commissioned frequently by National Geographic, where he served as a Photographer-in-Residence. His assignments have ranged from a first look at the fabled bonobos of the Congo to a circumnavigation by sailboat of South Georgia Island in the subantarctic. In a remote part of the Amazon Basin, he spent weeks on platform towers to obtain rare tree-canopy views of wild macaws. He has lived for months with seabirds on isolated atolls in the Pacific Ocean, tracked lions through the African night, and camped among giant tortoises inside a volcano in the Galápagos.   Lanting’s work also includes profiles of ecological hot spots from India to New Zealand, as well as features on the majesty and plight of albatrosses, the nearly extinct Asiatic cheetahs in Iran, and a remarkable study of chimpanzees in Senegal that is shedding new light on human evolution.   Lanting has received many honors for his work. In 2001 H.R.H. Prince Bernhard inducted him as a Knight in the Royal Order of the Golden Ark, the Netherlands’ highest conservation honor. He has received top honors from World Press Photo, the title of BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and the Sierra Club’s Ansel Adams Award. He has been inducted as a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society in London and is a recipient of Sweden’s Lennart Nilsson Award.   Donated by Frans Lanting, Frans Lanting Studio http://lanting.com/

This photo print is of Dominic, a resident cheetah at CCF's world class educational center in Namibia, as photographed by Jennifer Leigh Warner of Experience Wildlife. Dominic was orphaned in the Khomas region of Namibia.   The Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET) contacted CCF and staff drove out to meet a farmer reporting that someone had dropped off a cub at her farm. The farmer was looking after the cub for about a week but she became concerned when the cub started to have health problems. The farmer was not able to provide the right level of care necessary for Dominic. It is unclear how he became separated from its mother. Measures 11"h x 14"w. This 11" x 14" print captures a mom and pup, both of whom play an integral role in CCF's Livestock Guarding Dog (LGD) Program.   Approximately 70% to 100% of human-wildlife conflict occurs on working farms. The CCF model farm and training programs help farmers keep their livestock safe from predators which, in turn, makes farmers less likely to trap or shoot a cheetah. These types of activities have successfully doubled the population of cheetahs in the wild. Namibia is named the cheetah capital of the world for a reason - it is the country with the highest remaining wild cheetah population.   CCF is strategically stationed in Otjiwarongo, Namibia on 7,000 acres of land. Your purchase will help assist CCF with research, education and conservation efforts to save the cheetah in the wild.   To learn more experiencewildlife.com/about or meet Jennifer by video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZvI719OQrU   Donated by Jennifer Leigh Warner of Experience Wildlife, a commercial/editorial, nature/wildlife, landscape, fine art, photojournalism photographer based in California.

Support the rearing and training of puppies born into the Livestock Guarding Dog (LGD) programvat CCF Namibia. A new litter was just born in the first week of September 2020.   Sponsor a litter today (the average litter for LGD's is 5 - 8 puppies), help a farmer mitigate human-wildlife conflict, and receive the gift of an oversized plush Livestock Guarding Dog (Livestock Guarding Dog barking voice box included) and a small plush goat.    Did you know LGD's are responsible for reducing negative predator interactions with livestock by 80% to 100%, which has increased the population of the cheetah making Namibia the cheetah capital of the world? CCF has placed more than 680 dogs with Namibian farmers since the program began in 1994. Today, there are 333 LGD's working on farms in Namibia, protecting livestock and cheetahs, and we currently have an impressive four-year waiting list for farmers that want to join the program. The dogs are credited with saving hundreds of cheetah lives since the LGD program began, as well as the lives of other predators and small stock.   Please note that you will not receive a live dog or goat. Only a stuffed plush Livestock Guarding Dog that barks and a plush goat. Due to the nature of placing dogs on farms in rural Namibia receiving updates or images is not always possible. Thank you in advance for supporting an LGD litter of puppies, LGD's help farmers mitigate human-wildlife conflict increasing the survival of the cheetah.   Don't Stress. Save the Cheetah. Save the World. Train a Puppy.    For more information about CCF and the Livestock Guarding Dog Program, please visit www.cheetah.org.

Miri Kim is a Washington, D.C. based artist that specializes in capturing intimate, emotional moments in artistic form. This beautiful watercolor painting depicts just that - an intimate moment between a cheetah and a woman. It truly captures the profound impact animals can have on us as human beings.   Measures 20" x 24". Includes frame.   When you bid on this item, you are supporting the multifaceted holistic educational programs of CCF, not limited to the model farms goat cheese creamery. Thank you greatly in advance for your support.   About Miri Kim Life has a way of coming full circle. I began my artistic journey early, from drawing with my first box of crayons to later receiving a BA degree in Fine Arts from Yale.   My experience in between includes completing commissioned pieces, studying assiduously at premier art programs and schools, including Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Brooklyn Art Museum, Parsons in Manhattan, and New York Students Art League.    My pursuit as painter abroad was interrupted and ended shortly after it began due to family matters. And then continued to be put on hold due to life and other adventures—maybe even distractions and excuses. Now a lifetime later, I’m ready to dust off the pens and palettes with a renewed commitment to rendering what brings me joy—what moves me.   Whether it be a landscape or a crowd scene it is the personal aesthetic of the artist which translates it into a visual form—it is unique and inimitable to that artist.   Donated by Miri Kim

A great gift to give for that someone special! This assorted package of round and heart ornaments crafted by Bushman living on resettlement farms in eastern and northern Namibia would make a perfect gift. Ball ornaments comes in white and beige bead colors. Heart shaped ornaments come in white and red bead colors. Something about ostrich egg beads:   The oldest African beads are made from ostrich egg shell and were discovered in the Enkapune Ya Muto rock shelter in the Rift Valley region of Kenya. These beads have been dated to 37,000-39,900 years old, and they comprise 13 complete beads, 12 preforms and 593 shell fragments. It is believed that each bead was made individually and not through the heishi technique of bead making. While these beads are believed to have symbolized solidarity in ancient Bushmen society, today you can simply enjoy their beauty by wearing them as a necklace. Making a necklace from ostrich egg shell beads will involve drilling the beads to enable stringing; and thereafter grinding them along a stone to smooth them on the edge.   Donated by United States of America Board of Trustees, Paola Bari

Discovery Flights make a great gift! Discovery Flight Video:  https://youtu.be/g1YbWVCKSMk Often, the biggest hurdle to becoming a Private Pilot is the first — you may dream about flying, but you have absolutely no idea where to start. And that's normal. Even the most experienced pilots can remember their first time in the cockpit, when they made the decision to stop thinking about flying and actually take the controls of an airplane. We know where you're at, because we all began with the same dream — to fly. At Willamette Aviation, we are here to make your first time in the pilot's seat a day you will never forget. It's a comprehensive flight experience — not just a scenic hop over a few local farms. We don't restrict you to one or two of our smaller planes for a Discovery Flight — you are invited to fly any airplane in our fleet, so long as it's one that's appropriate for Private Pilot flight training. This includes our four-seat Cessna 172 Skyhawks, so you're more than welcome to invite one or two passengers to join you on your journey! (If bringing two passengers, please contact us about weight restrictions.) On a Discovery Flight, you will: Meet with an FAA Certified Flight Instructor, who will answer any questions you have about General Aviation airplanes and flight training;   Practice taxiing your airplane to the "run-up" pad near the runway (you probably won't do it well, but it will be an amusing memory when you master it later);   Execute a typical "run-up" test of your airplane and a standard takeoff, with your hands on the controls (your instructor will help you);   Fly to another airport, not far from Aurora State, to log your first landing (with your instructor's assistance to assure a safe arrival), and then another exciting takeoff;   Perform straight-and-level flight, standard turns, and a return to the Aurora Airport, with your hands on the controls;   Log your second landing on the active runway at Aurora State;   Receive your initial pilot's logbook, with the time you have flown credited toward the hours you will accumulate for your Private Pilot Certificate. A Discovery Flight is your first lesson as a student pilot, and you will take your logbook home with a sense of accomplishment — after all, you've just discovered that you can fly an airplane, flown to another airport and back, and started your personal journey toward becoming an aviator.   By the way, if you're a born pilot, the ear-to-ear grin that comes after your first time at the controls is perfectly normal. Wait a few days for the effect to wear off, and then call us in the morning.   Donated by Willamette Aviation and CCF United States of America Board of Trustees, Janet Waggoner http://www.willametteair.com

This will be a wonderful addition to the library of anyone who is interested in the decorative arts or Ancient Egypt - or both! Faience is a form of ceramic that the Ancient Egyptians treasured and used to make everyday objects (like bowls and drinking vessels), religious objects (like amulets and votive offerings), exquisite jewelry (like "broad collars"), and for other decorative and symbolic uses associated with temples, tombs, and palaces. The book is about 12" high by about 9" wide; has 288 pages; 483 illustrations of which 224 are in color. The description of the book's contents and an acknowledgement of all the Egyptology experts who contributed to it are friends of the in-kind donors, and they are collectively associated with the 3 best collections of Ancient Egyptian objects at major museums in the United States.   Donated by CCF US Board of Trustees, Adina Savin

Three Piece Photo Set of Polly and Rohinitalalla (CCF Resident Cheetahs) photographed by Barbara Carroll.  Size: 8x10 with frame 11x14, studio décor style  Barbra's photos capture an intimacy that is remarkable when you connect with these magnificent African animals.    A letter from Barbara Carroll '76!    Discovering New Passions at 60    I had lists of where I dreamed of going long before the movie, “The Bucket List” was conceived. So the thought of a safari to Kenya and Tanzania was very exciting to me. I had no idea how much of an impact the trip would have on me.    My camera recorded my experiences, but it couldn’t capture the emotions felt during morning game drives, or at the local watering holes. There were new mothers everywhere – prides of lions, herds of elephants, white rhinos, gazelles, and cape buffalo – all with their newborn.    Of all of the species we observed, one cat captured my heart - the cheetah. Their legs are long and their bodies are lean. In Kenya, and Tanzania, we witnessed the cheetah stalk and capture its prey. We observed a mother watching over her cubs while they frolicked in the grass. I had no idea how rare and precious these sightings were.    At the Serengeti Research Center, I learned about factors having a devastating impact on their ability to survive. Their population has dwindled from over 100,000 to as few as 7,000 now, due to loss of habitat, human-cheetah conflict, illegal trafficking of cubs, and the cubs low survival rate in the wild.    I needed to learn more about cheetahs, and discovered the US office of The Cheetah Conservation Fund, CCF, in Alexandria, VA., where I live. I went to their offices, announcing my intention to work for, or volunteer for CCF. I also attended a fund-raising event, featuring the founder of The Cheetah Conservation Fund, Dr. Laurie Marker.    Dr. Marker based the CCF in Namibia in 1990, and has spearheaded amazing work to halt the decline of this species through education, outreach, and genetic research and conservation. The event was inspirational. As a result, I planned a return trip to Africa to include Namibia, home of the Cheetah Conservation Fund.    I was thrilled to go to their global headquarters. We toured the facility, learned about the Livestock Guarding Dog Program, internships and visiting guest programs. Unfortunately, during this Safari, there were no sightings of cheetahs in the wild. I was stunned. I felt sure that I would be able to see them in the wild again. It did not occur to me that I would not.    Issues impacting the cheetah’s survival are complex and involve international borders, governments, business interests and illegal trafficking of cubs. Local farmers are protecting their herds, and communities are trying to survive. Without their buy-in on the front line, there would continue to be a needless loss of these precious cats.    At 60, I did not think there was room for new passion in my life – but I was wrong. Imagine helping to save a species from extinction. What’s next on my list? Working at CCF as part of their Working Guest Program would be amazing! Lion Set photographed by Barbara Carroll.
