The Bridgeport Bluefish played in the independent Atlantic League. They were one of the orignal teams that began play in 1998. They played their home games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The Bluefish have played in the league's championship series three times and captured the title in 1999. The Bridgeport Bluefish were enjoyed a 20-year run in the Atlantic League, the top independent pro baseball league in the United States, between 1998 and 2017. The arrival of the Bluefish in 1998 and the concurrent opening of the $19 million Ballpark at Harbor Yard on an abandoned industrial brownfield was a center piece of public/private efforts to revitalize downtown Bridgeport in the late 1990’s. | The Greater Bridgeport Symphony is known as "the Sound on the Sound." Now in their 75th year, Eric Jacobsen is back for his eighth season leading this highly talented orchestra. Maestro Eric Jacobsen continues to stretch the impressive talents of our musicians with heroic, large scale programming. GBS has recently hosted such worldwide luminaries as Gil Shaham, Colin Jacobsen, Mira Wang, Simone Porter (violinits), Alex Beyer, Andrew Armstrong, Tiffany Poon and the incomparable Yuja Wang (pianists). All concerts in the 2021-22 season (except March) will take place at 8 PM at the historic, Art-Deco Klein Memorial Auditorium located at 910 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport. Home to the GBS for almost its entire history, the Klein is conveniently located near all major routes, has plush, comfortable seating and wonderful acoustics. Symphony patrons are offered free, attended parking at the municipal parking facility located directly across the street from the hall.
